READING, MA — There are currently five positive cases of COVID-19, the illness associated with the coronavirus, in Reading, health officials said. The first positive case in Reading was reported last Wednesday.
Ahead of Gov. Charlie Baker issuing a two-week stay-at-home order and closing non-essential in-person businesses Monday, the town shut down services that could not be provided by keeping a distance of at least six feet between people. Click here for a list of essential businesses.
Reading has also shut down all basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds and athletic fields/complexes. Families are welcome to play in the parks – staying off the playgrounds – and use trails but are asked not to engage in sports or activities that require physical or shared contact.
