As a result of being one of the lead sponsors of The VALOR Act, House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) has been selected by the Department of Defense as a recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation.
“I would like to thank the Department of Defense for selecting me to receive the Certificate of Appreciation,” said Representative Jones. “I remain steadfast in my commitment to improving the quality of life and access to higher education for the men and women serving in our armed forces, and I will continue to recognize the pivotal role education plays in job creation for our service members here in Massachusetts.”
The legislation, which was initially offered as part of the GOP Jobs Package, requires public institutions of higher learning to adopt new policies and procedures to award proper academic credit for a veteran’s prior military training, coursework and experience. The VALOR Act will in turn enhance the Commonwealth’s ability to positively impact the quality of life for service members and their families residing in Massachusetts.
