RPD Encourages Safe Driving Warning to Drivers: Practice Safe Driving during the Holidays

The period from Thanksgivings to New Year’s Eve is a very busy time of year. Thanksgiving Day consistently ranks as the busiest travel day each year. The Reading Police Department would like to take a moment to encourage drivers to use extra caution and practice safe driving techniques as the holiday season fast approaches.
“Whether you are traveling across the country or just across town, we want to make sure you make it to the dinner table so you can enjoy the holidays with your family,” said Chief James Cormier. “Despite all the rushing around, we are asking people to stay committed to the basic principles of safe driving.”

● Buckle up every trip, every time
● Plan for enough travel time to avoid the temptation to speed

● Never drink and drive
● Drive defensively, leaving ample space between your car and other vehicles
