Burbank Y Fitness Center Undergoing Renovations
The fitness center will be closed from April 13-20 to complete the renovations.
The fitness center at the is getting a face-lift and new equipment. Although the renovations have already begun, the center will be closed from April 13-20 so the work can be completed.
According to Fitness Center Coordinator Joanne Waterhouse, the floors are going to be redone, the walls will get a fresh coat of paint and new equipment will be brought in.
The new equipment, the Cybex strength line, NuStep Octane Seated Ellipticals and a Fitlinxx full body circuit, will go into the current cardio area. The cardio equipment in that room now will go into the area which currently houses weight machines. The new equipment will include personal viewing screens and some adaptable pieces.

"So people with wheelchairs can roll right into the machine," said Waterhouse.
The renovations will also bring more stretching and functional training space to the center. The changes are being made so that the Y will meet ADA regulations, said Waterhouse.

“We believe it is important for all members, including those with disabilities, to have the proper tools to lead healthier lifestyles,” said Director of Health and Wellness Services Julie Slack in a press release. “The Burbank Y understands the necessity for all members to have access to the fitness equipment so they can meet their personal health goals.”
The fitness center is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, April 21 at 7 a.m. and a renovation celebration will be held Saturday, May 5.
