Changes at Great American Tavern

is undergoing some changes including a breakfast menu, a new manager on their liquor license and they are working on extended hours for the patio.

Breakfast Menu

The restaurant is now serving breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to noon. They have a full menu, manager Renee Bianchi said, including bacon and eggs, oatmeal, pancakes, french toast and waffles.

Liquor License Change 

One of three owners of the restaurant, Chuck Mulik, attended the North Reading Selectmen's meeting Monday night to get approval to add Bianchi to its liquor license. Bianchi has been manager since last February.

“I love being here,” she said.

Mulik also wanted to state that part owner and operational manager Robert Palmer would no longer be a part of the organization nor will he be on the liquor license.

Every member of the board was in favor of removing Palmer from the license and adding Bianchi.

Extended Patio Hours

Owners of the eatery are working on scheduling another hearing at a Board of Selectmen's meeting in order to extend the hours of their patio.

The extension would be every day of the week, weather permitting, Bianchi said.

Right now, they have to close the patio at 6 p.m., however, they would like to close the patio when they close the restaurant. Another option would be to close it at dusk. During the summer, closing the patio at dusk as opposed to 6 p.m. will allow customers to take advantage of the patio for several additional hours.

Mulik noted that neighbors had complained about their outdoor lights in the past, and he said that he put them on a timer so the lights go off as soon as the restaurant closes. The landlord also changed the bulbs to help remedy the situation.

Noise related to music outside may be a problem due to neighbors close to the restaurant, said Selectman Steve O’Leary Monday.
