Child Wanders Out of Home, Picked Up by Resident in Reading

The following is an excerpt from the log from Monday through Tuesday. The information is open to the public.
Tuesday, April 24
- At 7:48 a.m., a Mt. Vernon Street resident reported that the driver's side window on his car was smashed.
- At 1:25 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious person walking through the woods with a large bag. Police spoke with the man who was collecting cans in the woods. He was told not to go into anyone's backyard.
- At 4 p.m., a caller reported that the passenger side of his car was scratched while parked on Chapin Avenue.
- At 4:12 p.m., an emergency caller reported picking up a child on Main Street. The mother of the child stated that she had fallen asleep and thought the front door of her home was secure. The child had wondered out the front door before being picked up by the emergency caller.
- At 5:36 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious female, possibly drunk, walking on Hopkins Street. Police found the female and placed her in protective custody.
- At 5:37 p.m., a caller reported a small oven fire that was contained to the pan on Hartshorn Street.
- At 7:55 p.m., a caller reported that his car was keyed while parked on Longfellow Road.

- At 9:45 a.m., a Curtis Street resident reported that his car was keyed overnight.
- At 1 p.m., a Knollwood Road resident reported receiving harassing phone calls.
- At 8:25 p.m., a Pasture Road resident reported that youths cut through a yard and walked into the woods. Police investigated and found that the youths were building a clubhouse on their property. They were made aware of the complaint and will stop for the night.
- At 9:07 p.m., a Gazebo Circle resident reported that his neighbor was yelling profanities and that it was an ongoing problem when there was a sporting event on television. The neighbor was advised of the complaint and agreed to keep the noise down.
- At 9:41 p.m., a caller reported that he allowed a co-worker to borrow his vehicle and it has not been returned yet.
