Dates for School Building Project Vote Proposed

Vote for the proposed middle/high school building project in March.

At Monday night’s Selectmen meeting, Geof Simons proposed dates for Special Town Meeting and a special election to vote on the .

The Selectmen are leaning toward March 19 and 24, but will vote at their next meeting on Jan. 23.

If the Selectmen vote to pass those dates in March, Special Town Meeting for the will be held first on March 19 and will require a 2/3 vote. Special Election will be held on March 24 and will require majority vote to pass. Residents would vote at  from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day.

According to Selectmen Chairman Bob Mauceri, the town will have 120 days from when the Massachusetts School Building Authority announces their final decision to get the project passed. Their decision is expected on January 25.
