Harrington’s Beginner Irish Set Dancing Classes 2012

Irish Social Dancing Monday Night’s at 7:30 Upstairs at Harrington’s

As in prior years, Harrington’s is offering a series of beginner classes in Irish set dancing on Monday nights this summer upstairs in the function room. All ages are welcome. Partners are not required; sets are formed when the dancers show up.

What is Irish Set Dancing? Set dancing is a form of Irish social dancing popular in Ireland and in many countries of the world. Eight people create a square formation, and follow a series of movements using simple footwork (that we will teach you) and dance to lively Irish tunes. It's cultural, musical, social, good exercise, and it’s fun!

The beginner class, led by Frank Keane from Reading and Eileen McClelland, gives interested dancers a chance to gain experience in the sets that are regularly danced at Harrington’s, other greater Boston locations and worldwide events. Frank & Eileen also run the Wednesday night set dancing sessions year round upstairs at Harrington’s from 7:30 to 9:30.

There is no sign-up required but we request you leave your contact information in case we need to cancel class for some reason. The fee is $7 per night, pay as you go.

We recommend leather-soled shoes that fasten securely to your feet for dancing & loose light-weight clothing for comfort (think tee-shirt). The hall is air-conditioned.
