Flu Vaccine Clinic Planned At Reading Library

The clinic is open to individuals ages 18 and up.

READING, MA — Reading adults needing a flu shot will have another chance to get one next week at the Reading Public Library, the town announced on Monday.

The clinic is set for Nov. 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the library at 64 Middlesex Ave.

The Reading Public Health Department is hosting this clinic.

The clinic is open to community members ages 18 and up. Those interested in receiving a vaccine should preregister at the link here.

Health experts at the state and national level have flagged concerns in recent days and weeks about fears of potential combined surges in COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) this winter.

RSV test positivity rates have been surging across the country, according to Center for Disease Control and Prevention data.

Massachusetts CDC data had shown its own state-level increases as of late October.

Where there is no vaccine against RSV, officials have encouraged individuals to get their COVID-19 and flu vaccines this winter to help limit chances of a “triple pandemic.”

Locally, the state is running a series of incentivized COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Malden where Massachusetts residents can receive a $75 gift card when they get the vaccine.

The state Department of Public Health launched the program on Oct. 29 and will continue offering clinic dates through Nov. 26.
