Higgins Named Executive Director of Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce

North Reading resident Julie Higgins will be the new Executive Director for the Chamber of Commerce.

The Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce announced today that Julie Higgins of North Reading has been named their new Executive Director.

Chamber President, Pat Lee of the in North Reading said, “We are thrilled to have Julie join the Chamber as Executive Director.  Her extensive experience in communications, fundraising and event planning will be an asset to the Chamber.  We are confident that Julie will continue to foster the great work of the Chamber, previously led by Irene Collins, and we are excited to have her on our team.”

The Chamber spent several weeks searching for a replacement for the previous Executive Director, Irene Collins, who left the Chamber to become Executive Director of the Burbank YMCA in Reading.  The Chamber formed a hiring committee, led by the Chamber’s 1st Vice President, Gino Molettieri of Reading’s Baystate Financial, interviewing many qualified candidates from both Reading and North Reading before offering the position to Mrs. Higgins. 

A graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in English and Business Administration, Julie has spent the last fifteen years working for Genzyme, a biotechnology company located in Cambridge, MA.  At Genzyme, Julie held the role of Corporate Communications Events Program Manager, focusing on employee engagement programs, marketing, web applications, social media, fundraising, and public relations event planning.

“I am thrilled to accept the position of Executive Director and I look forward to meeting the members of the Chamber of Commerce, addressing their needs and the needs of both Reading and North Reading,” said Mrs. Higgins. 

A long-term resident of North Reading, Julie resides in the town with her husband and three daughters.
