Meet Your Neighbor: Cheryl Delaney

Name: Cheryl Delaney; 48 years old
I have 2 children Ryan (14) and Hannah (11)  oh and our dog Sophie (4)

Family: Wife of Selectman Sean Delaney. We've been married 18 years. We met in Newport RI in 1991. I grew up in Cranston Rhode Island.

Occupation: I am a Registered Nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Labor and Delivery unit. I have worked there for 13 years and love my job! I am also a substitute nurse for the N. Reading public schools. I also taught the first babysitting courses for the NR Parks and Rec Dept.

School & Major: I graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island with a degree in Nursing in 1996. Prior to that I graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School in Providence RI in 1983 and Cranston East High School in 1982.

Why North Reading?: We chose North Reading to live because of its easy access to I-93 and I-95, good schools and for its "small town" feel!  

Hobbies: My hobbies are tennis and figure skating. I skated competitively for many years as a child then into my teens. I wish I could do it more!!

Favorite Movie: My all time favorite movie is "It's a Wonderful Life". My current favorite is "The Hunger Games". I also loved all the Twilight books.

Fun facts: I started the Hockey Moms team for the Relay for Life 4 years ago in honor of my friends Lisa Murphy; Lisa Corsetti and Lisa Blais who are all doing wonderful! Our team is still going strong raising over $10,000 every year for the American Cancer Society.

I am addicted to the weather! I would be a meteorologist if I wasn't a nurse!  Yes I have been known to track a storm or two!

My Mom was my inspiration. She too was an OB Nurse in RI.
