Reading Plans 1st Annual Menorah Lighting
The event will feature music, crafts, glow-in-the-dark dreidels and more.
READING, MA — Reading will hold its first annual menorah lighting Monday with an event on the Town Common, officials announced last month.
The menorah lighting is set for Monday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m.
The event will feature music, crafts for children, Hanukkah treats and glow-in-the-dark dreidels, among other things, as noted in the town’s announcement.

The Reading Food Pantry will be collecting food donations on site.
The menorah lighting is backed by the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce, the Reading Rotary Club, the Coalition of Us, Whitelam Books, the Reading Clergy Association and the Chabad of the North Shore.

Hanukkah will begin on Dec. 18 and end on Dec. 26.
The upcoming menorah lighting in Reading follows tree lighting festivities late last month.
Other menorah lightings are similarly planned this month in communities including Woburn and Malden.
