Reading Police Issue Warning After Coyote Sightings
Police are telling residents to "stay vigilant" as there have been numerous recent coyote sightings.
READING, MA — There have been reports of seeing coyotes around Reading, including one larger coyote.
Reading police posted the following coyote alert on Facebook:
"While we have many coyotes all around town, there have been some reports of a larger coyote in the area of Lowell Street and Grove Street. This is just a reminder to stay vigilant.

"While these animals are generally shy and tend to avoid humans, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings. Please keep pets on leashes (especially small pets), avoid leaving food outside and make sure to secure your trash.
"If you see the coyote, keep your distance and do not approach. Let's all stay safe and respect our wildlife!"

The warning comes as four dogs were killed in recent attacks in Saugus.
