Reading Recall Election: Nomination Papers Available

The town will hold a Special Election Sept. 1 to consider a petition to recall Select Board member Vanessa Alvarado.

READING, MA — Nomination papers are now available for the Sept. 1 Recall Election. Those who want to have their name on the ballot should contact the Town Clerk at 781-942-6647 or townclerk@ci.reading.ma.us to pick up nomination papers.

Earlier this month, the Select Board voted to hold a Special Election Sept. 1 to consider the petition to recall Select Board member Vanessa Alvarado. Alvarado recused herself from the vote setting the date for the election.

The petition to recall Alvarado started in February after she reportedly "acted to block police force ratification discussions following the Town Manager's selection of the Police Chief candidate on January 11."
