As you may have seen, several of our neighboring communities are impacted by a trash and recycling work stoppage as Republic Services negotiates with its workers. Reading is not affected by this work stoppage, and trash and recycling crews from Republic are in town today as scheduled. The crews that service Reading are dispatched from Tyngsboro, while the impacted towns have crews that are dispatched from Peabody and Revere. *Please note: there is a scheduled delay around the July 4 holiday; if your pickup day is Friday, please have barrels curbside by 7am Saturday July 5**
Reading has been mentioned in some news reports as impacted by the stoppage; it seems we’re included in lists with multiple Republic customers despite not having service interruptions. The Town Manager is in communication with Republic management during this period to ensure our services are not impacted, and we’ll share updates here, on the Town website and via CodeRed (reverse 911) calls if necessary.
