A release from the Town of Reading:

READING, Ma. - The Town of Reading Trust Fund Commissioners are pleased to announce
the addition of a new service to the Reading Response Program. Beginning July 1, 2019, the
program will fund one day a week (or four times a month) of Adult Day Health Care for
qualifying Reading residents. The program will cover up to $75.00 of the daily cost for the three
centers which have been designated for this program. The centers are the Dutton Adult Day
Health Center in Wakefield, the Shapiro Center in Peabody and the Spectrum Center in North
Andover. This program is designed to meet the needs of Reading’s citizens who are aging at
home.

This program replaces a respite care program for the caregivers of Reading residents which
provided for a nurse’s aide to care for an ill person at home to relieve the caregiver. The new
program will serve that purpose as well as providing the client with health care and socialization
at a licensed Adult Day Health Care Center. Families will be responsible for arranging
transportation for the client.
