RMLD Celebrates Completion Of Customer Parking Lot
Updates include more parking spaces, improved drainage and an electric vehicle charging station.

READING, MA — Reading Municipal Light Department welcomed the completion of its updated customer parking lot earlier this month. Chair of the Board of Commissioners John Stempeck, General Manager Coleen O'Brien and Facilities Manager Paul McGonagle held a socially distant celebration June 3.
The completed project raised the number of parking spaces, improved drainage to reduce pooling and icing, eliminated uneven and broken pavement and added a dual-port electric vehicle charging station with two additional expansion ports. Site beautification was also done as part of the project.
The area was originally a similarly sized lot but was reconfigured in the 1970s when a control house was built on one end for the power station. The control house sat atop an underground concrete cooling pool, both of which have been retired and removed.
