Still No Suspects in Winter Hill Bank Robbery

About one year later, the Winter Hill Bank robbery case is still open.

It's been nearly a year since the  on Main Street in North Reading who claimed he had a gun. The robber passed a note to a teller stating that he had a gun, but never revealed the weapon.

Bank robbery stats

According to the F.B.I., in the third quarter of 2011, there were 1,094 reported violations of the Federal Bank Robbery and Incidental Crimes Statue. That number is less than the previous year, when 1,325 violations were reported in the same quarter. There were 1,081 robberies, 11 burglaries, two larcenies, and one extortion of a financial institution across the country.

As reported by the F.B.I., there were three bank robberies in Massachusetts between July 1, 2011 and September 30, 2011.

In 89 percent of the incidents, money was stolen totaling $9.3 million. 25 percent of the money was recovered and returned. The incidents happened most on Friday's between 9 and 11 a.m. There were 18 injuries, three deaths and four hostages. The majority of the violations happened in the Western region of the United States.
