Town Of Reading Distributing New Rubbish, Recycling Bins

The Town will also have a limited number of smaller options for both recycling bins and rubbish bins.

READING, MA — In April of 2025, the Town of Reading will be delivering 64-gallon rubbish bins, along with 96-gallon recycling bins for all residents currently receiving collection by the town.

The Town will also have a limited number of smaller options for both recycling bins (48 or 64 gallon) and rubbish bins (48 gallons). Priority for these sizes will be given to residents over 60 years of age, or those residents with a disability.

Please come into the DPW office at Town Hall or call 781-942-9077 to be on the list for smaller barrels.

There will be no changes to the current policy, residents may still leave one bulk item out on their pickup day. Click the "Bulk item Collection" on the left-hand menu for more info on what is considered a bulk item.

It will be mandatory that residents use the town provided barrels, as we will be moving to automated pickups with our new contract coming in July of 2026. If you have any questions, call the DPW office at 781-942-9077.
