Why Was It So Smoky in Reading Thursday Morning?
If you smelled smoke, you're not the only one. We get to the bottom of where it came from.

Did you come across the strong smell of smoke this morning as you walked out the door on the way to work? You're not alone. So why was it so smoky in Reading this morning?
A large compost and brush fire broke out near the Tewksbury and Wilmington town lines. Because of the cold air, smoke from the fire was sent to ground level throughout towns in the region.
Several Reading Patch readers have inquired about the smoke, and the Reading Police Department took to Twitter to assure residents that there is no danger.
Through their Twitter account, police informed residents of the Wilmington-Tewksbury fire. One follower asked if the smoke presented any safety hazard, and police responded, "No. Just more of a nuisance."
