  1. Tonight the Boston Police District E-5 is hosting a Halloween party for kids from 5-8 p.m. Dress up in your favorite costume for a costume contest at the Roche Family Community Center. Clown, jugglers, entertainment and more. Free. Party is at both locations.
  2. On Saturday, there will be an artist's reception for Alan DeMola hosted at the Cheese Cellar. Come enjoy refreshments and view his varied works. 2-5 p.m.

On Saturday, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s Park Science and Urban Wilds programs are teaming up to present a pair of foliage and landscape ecology walks in two of Boston’s hidden open space gems, Allandale Woods in West Roxbury and Gladeside Urban Wild in Mattapan. Join Urban Wilds director Paul Sutton for a look at fall colors and the natural features of these unique sites. Free.
