Checkmate Cafe Deliverer Sent to Hospital After Dog Bite on Symmes Street in Roslindale

A pizza deliverer for Checkmate Cafe was bitten by a dog on Symmes Street in Roslindale, sending the victim to Faulkner Hospital.

Around 11:50 p.m. on Jan. 25, police spoke with an employee of Checkmate Cafe who said the deliverer was bitten on his upper right thigh by the dog, after it ran out of the residence, then ran back into the house, according to a Boston Police report. The employee said the delivery driver came back to the business and was then taken to Faulkner Hospital.

The employee said they tried to get further information regarding the dog and its vaccinations, but the owner was allegedly very uncooperative and tried to convince the victim he didn't need treatment, according to a Boston Police report.
