Mom Hands Over Son's Stolen Gun, Fearing He's in Gang in Roslindale

Boston Police arrested a Roslindale man who allegedly broke into his mother's apartment after she kicked him out for finding a gun in his room. The mother told police she believes her son may be gang-affiliated due to his green colored beads he wears regularly.
On Feb. 14 around 3:29 a.m., Jose Montanez Jr., of 14 Delford St., Roslindale, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property of more than $250 and unlawful possession of a firearm.

On Feb. 13, while looking for her cellphone in her son's room, she allegedly found an unloaded Smith & Wessun .38 caliber five-shot, wrapped in green and white beads in a dresser, according to a Boston Police report. For security purposes, she transported the gun with the beads in a cooking pot to the Lutheran Church at 1195 Centre St., Roslindale. A police officer was notified at that time of the gun.
A background check on the gun's serial number determined it had been stolen from Alexander, New Hampshire in 2012, according to a Boston Police report.

Police were called to 14 Delford St. on Feb. 14, after the suspect allegedly broke into the house after his mother had kicked him out. The mother told police she was planning on getting a restraining order against her son to keep him away from the household.
