Monday Essentials: Archdale Center Being Renamed After Menino
On Thursday come see Jack Colombo & Friends play a free live concert Adams Park in Roslindale Village.

- The Archdale Community Center at 125 Brookway Road is hosting an open house for families on Monday starting at 5 p.m. and the renaming of the center to Mayor Thomas Menino at 6:30 p.m. Games, rock-climbing wall, food and more.
- On Monday there is free films for preschool children at the Roslindale Library, 4246 Washington St., from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- On Wednesday at Billings Field in West Roxbury, the BCYF Sox Talk Baseball Clinics baseball clinic followed by an appearance by Red Sox players and coaching staff is taking place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. . Young people ages 7-14 will have the chance to work on their baseball skills before the players arrive. Once players arrive, they will join the clinic and work with groups of kids on various skills, and will be able to answer a few questions. Please bring or wear sneakers or baseball plastic cleats and comfortable clothes. Bring your glove, if you have one, but bats are not needed.Youth groups and camps are welcome to participate. - State Sen. Mike Rush and State Rep. Ed Coppinger let the state's transportation director know that they are against the closing of RMV locations, including the Roslindale location.
