Residents Overwhelmingly Support Roslindale Substation Plans

A letter of support signed by 394 Roslindale residents was submitted to the Boston Redevelopment Authority on Friday.

 

Roslindale residents overwhelmingly supported the plans for the Substation Project with 394 residents signing a letter of support to the Boston Redevelopment Authority on Friday.

The Roslindale Village Main Street organization created the letter of support. The signatures were gathered during the course of three days. The comment period for the public ended on Friday.

"I’m overjoyed - just pleased that people have been following this for as long as they have and heard all the right turns and left rurns and are still with us," said Steve Gag, president of the RVMS' board of directors. "They took the time to read this long letter and sign on in support, which is very pleasing."

Gag said the majority of people at the Jan. 30 public meeting (that premiered the Roslindale Substation plans), and during the public comment period supported the plans. But there are people who have concerns. "We had probably had... about 20 people who sent in concerns ranging from traffic, parking, density, and design."

Gag said a very real concern issued has been that vehicles will not be able to take a left onto Cummins Highway from the new new development. That would then cause drivers down Roslindale side streets.
