Roslindale Food Pantry Closed Temporarily
The temporary closure will benefit the long-term needs of the Roslindale Food Pantry's clients.

The Roslindale Food Pantry is closing temporarily, according to an email from the pantry's board of directors. Citing outgrowing the organization's infrastructure, the board is looking to strengthen the program when it returns.

Below is the email:
The Roslindale Food Pantry Board of Directors wishes to notify the public that we will be taking a short break to restructure our operations, effective March 1, 2013. Over the past few years we have been outgrowing our infrastructure, and we will use this time to reorganize the program. We regret this temporary interruption in our service to the community, but feel it will better serve the long-term needs of our clients.

This temporary closure happens in parallel with the retirement of Carole and Ron Poole, long-time residents of Roslindale and members of the Roslindale Congregational Church, who are retiring from managing the Food Pantry after more than 25 years of continued and dedicated service. This time of transition is the opportune moment to update the operations of the pantry to ensure we are effectively and efficiently meeting the needs of our community.
We thank everyone who has generously donated food to the Roslindale Food Pantry, and we ask members of the public to hold off on making further food donations until we are back up and running. Recent donations of food will be kept until we reopen, except for perishable items, which will be donated to other pantries.
We also thank those who have made monetary donations to the Food Pantry – -whether regular or occasional. The recent monies will remain in the Food Pantry’s account until we reopen, and will be used for their intended purpose.
We ask for your spiritual support during this time of transition. If you would like to be notified when the Food Pantry is again up and running, please email roslindalefoodpantry@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Roslindale Food Pantry Board of Directors
