Roslindale's Kozu in 'Reflections of a Rock Lobster'

The play is the true story of a gay teenager and his fight to defend his life and preserve his civil rights in the wake of bullying, prejudice and intolerance.

Roslindale's Joy Kozu will be featured in the Boston Children’s Theatre upcoming production "Reflections of a Rock Lobster".

Based on the autobiography of Aaron Fricke, the play was adapted by BCT Executive Artistic Director Burgess Clark for the stage. The play is the true story of a gay teenager and his fight to defend his life and preserve his civil rights in the wake of bullying, prejudice and intolerance.  

Kozu, 15, of Roslindale, will be playing a high school student. Kozu was most recently seen in BCT’s summer production of "Miss Saigon", as well as in last season’s pemiere of "Reflections of a Rock Lobster".  Kozu has also worked with the Our Place Theatre Project in Roxbury on several multi-cultural training programs and films.

"I really like that the play has such a good message and it's portrayed in such a way that people can really learn something from the story. The cast is so committed and we are all excited to share this production with the audience," said Kozu.

Public performances are from March 9-17 at the Wimberly Theatre.
