Two Deaths in Roslindale Elderly Housing, 3rd Sent to Hospital, HAZMAT Evacuates Building

Building declared safe after rounds of tests. Two men were found dead at the Roslyn Apartments at 1 Cliffmont St., in Roslindale, and another person was sent to the hospital with a life-threatening situation.

 

Two men were found dead within 12 hours of each other at the same Roslindale Boston Housing Authority-run senior citizen apartment building, and a third person was taken to the hospital with life-threateninging injuries.

The three incidents are all under investigation after the Roslyn Apartments at 1 Cliffmont St., was evacuated on Thursday, with a HAZMAT crew called in for precautionary measures.

Police first received a call around 10:56 a.m. on Wednesday for a person in cardiac arrest, a male in his 60s, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to BPDnews.com. No visible injuries were observed on the deceased.

Around 5:42 a.m. on Thursday, police were called to the same address for a second sudden death. Police found another male lying in the hallway of the first floor, who was also pronounced dead on scene.

Later on Thursday around 9:55 a.m., police responded again to 1 Cliffmont St. for an unknown incident. This time police found a female suffering from unknown life threatening injuries. She was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, according to police.

Boston Police then evacuated the building, and Hazmat teams responded. They did not find any carbon monoxide present.

"The building is safe. We’ve conducted three rounds of well being checks on residents and have brought in trauma counseling services for those that wish to participate and provided food in the community room as well," said Lydia Agro, Dir. of Communications and Public Affairs for the Boston Housing Authority to Roslindale Patch.

An officer in a Hazmat suit, allegedly carried out a bucket from the building, and someone else removed several boxes labeled "infectious waste" according to Bernice Corpuz of WBZ.

Boston Police Homicide detectives are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
