UPDATE: Malden Man Wanted for Attempted Murder of Salem Police Officer

Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down the suspect in Thursday night's shooting.

Salem, MA - A 22-year-old Malden man is wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer on Fairfield Street on Thursday evening.

Police are seeking in the public's help in finding Jeremiah F. Wooden, 22. Police listed Wooden's address as 22 Spring Street in Malden.

Wooden is described as a black male, six-feet tall and weighing 200 pounds.

Police state that officers attempted to stop Wooden, who had five outstanding warrants, on Fairfield Street shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday.

During a foot chase and struggle, Wooden pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the officers, who were not hit or injured.

Wooden then fled on foot. The area around Fairfield and Lafayette Streets were blocked off for several hours on Thursday evening as state, local, and canine units searched for the suspect, but he was not found.

On Friday morning, Salem Police issued the wanted poster for Wooden. It also listed three known associates/girlfriends: Kandis Moore of Marblehead, Amber Lebaron of Lynn, and Kaileigh McNeil of East Boston.

Anyone with information about Wooden should contact the Salem Police at 978-744-1212. The public is urged to use caution if Wooden is spotted.
