Salem Fire Union Makes Donation After Student Merch Sales Drive
Firefighters Local 172 donated $8,250 to the 2026 graduating class and participating teams after the 10-day October sales drive.

SALEM, MA — Members of the Salem High School Class of 2026 and Witches athletics programs teamed up with Salem Firefighters Union Local 172 for a 10-day merchandise sales drive at Salem Fire Headquarters in October.
In recognition of the student efforts, the union recently donated $8,250 back to the class and the participating teams with each group receiving $750 for their efforts.
"The students involved did an outstanding job and consistently represented Salem High School as positive ambassadors within the community," Salem Fire Chief Alan Dionne said. "This partnership helped build strong connections between the students and members of the fire department by bringing everyone together for a shared purpose.

"Students also had the opportunity to spend time at the firehouse, allowing them to learn more about the fire service. The department viewed this experience as a valuable way to introduce students to potential future careers and encourage interest in joining the department."
The annual collaboration is part of the department's and Union Local 172's work to support charitable organizations and groups within the community.
