Barricaded Man Set to be Evicted Saturday, Police and Mayor Say

The armed man who is barricaded in his home in Salem Saturday was set to be evicted, the mayor and police have told several media outlets.

The man barricaded in his home on Meadow Street on Saturday in Salem was set to be evicted on Saturday, Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll and Salem police have told several media outlets.

The standoff started just before 8 a.m. at a home on Meadow Street, where explosions were heard and the window had been blown out. Later, a SWAT team and bomb squad were called in and the situation was still active as of 12:30 p.m.

An armed man was barricaded in his home, just a few blocks north of the Salem State University campus. Several roads were closed in the area, including Canal Street between Laurel Street and Ocean Avenue.

WFXT-TV channel 25 and Nancy Chen at WHDH-TV both report that the unidentified man was set to be evicted Saturday.
