SALEM, MA — While, from all appearances, Cherry Bomb has made the most of her extended stay at the Northeast Animal Shelter of Salem, there's little doubt that for the 8-year-old good girl not having a forever family to call her own is the pits.

Cherry Bomb, a pit bull terrier/plot hound mix, has been at the Salem shelter for more than three months and is one of its longest-staying dogs. She is this week's Patch Shelter Spotlight.

She is described as a "big, happy girl that quite literally squeals with joy whenever she spots her favorite people approaching."

"Her exuberant greetings and infectious enthusiasm make her everyone's best friend here at the shelter," Northeast Animal Shelter staff said.

She is described as housebroken, easy-going on a leash and low maintenance. Despite her size — at 88 pounds — her modest energy would make her an ideal addition to both an active or more subdued household as the "perfect companion for anyone seeking both affection and tranquility in their furry friend."

"Cherry Bomb's heartwarming nature and gentle demeanor have won her countless admirers, and her ability to adapt effortlessly to various situations ensures she is always a pleasure to be around. She thrives on the simple pleasures of life, such as leisurely strolls and cozy naps," the Shelter said. "If you are in search of a loyal and loving companion who will greet you with boundless excitement and unwavering devotion, look no further than Cherry Bomb, the epitome of canine joy and companionship."

Cherry Bomb is available through this weekend adoption fee-free as part of the Northeast Animal Shelter and MSPCA-Angell's Texas Home 'Em adoption event where fees are being waived through Sunday for dogs over a year old and more than 40 pounds.

The Northeast Animal Shelter (NEAS) allows you to submit an inquiry online before visiting the shelter. Submitting an inquiry on an animal is not a hold, reservation, or guarantee on an animal adoption, it just gives NEAS a bit more information on you and allows staff to email you
additional information on our adoption process.
