Cinemaworld Project Would Bring Theaters, Restaurant, Bowling to Highland Avenue

The public is invited to a MEPA site visit for the proposed Cinemaworld project on Highland Avenue.

Salem, MA - A large entertainment complex featuring cinemas, a restaurant, an arcade, and laser tag is being planned for Highland Avenue by a Florida company.

Residents will get a chance to find out more about the project during a Massachusetts Environmental Protection Agency site visit of the property on Monday, March 21 at 2:00 PM.

The meeting will begin at the third floor conference room at Salem City Hall Annex on 120 Washington Street.

A visit to the site at 355-373 Highland Avenue will follow the meeting.

An Environmental Notification Form (ENF) has been filed with the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs by Cinemaworld of Florida, Inc. to construct a 74,360 sf building containing 10 cinemas with 1,700 to 2,000 seats; a 90- to 120- seat restaurant; 16 bowling lanes; an arcade; and a laser tag area.

The project also includes a 26-foot wide internal roadway, 383 parking spaces, and new stormwater management system. The project will generate 2,536 new average daily car trips

Three existing buildings will be demolished and the project requires a new curb cut on Highland Avenue (Route 107).

The developers are looking to start construction by this summer and complete the project by the fall of 2017, according to the MEPA filing.
