Essex County Residents Warned Of Jury Duty Scam

Essex County DA Paul Tucker said on Monday residents were being contacted and told they missed a jury duty requirement.

SALEM, MA — Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker on Monday warned residents not to fall for a scam in which they receive a phone call telling that they missed a jury duty requirement.

Tucker said the fraudsters call and tell the resident that they missed jury duty and if the potential victim says they never received a jury duty notice, the purported officer then asks identification information for "verification purposes."

That information can then be used to open accounts or other fraudulent activities.
