'Gunplay On The Streets Of Salem': Early Morning Shots Fired In The Witch City
Salem police asked visitors to stay away from Albion Street after "a significant number of shots" were reported on Monday.

SALEM, MA — Gunfire erupted in Salem on Monday with police reporting "a significant number of shots" fired in the area of Albion Street.
Salem police said no one was injured during the attack and that they said they do not believe it was random.
"Gunplay on the streets of Salem is unacceptable," police said in a statement on Monday. "And our detectives will work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice."

Police said the shots were reported at about 6:55 a.m. and that the suspects fled the scene when they responded.
Investigators and ballistic units were processing the scene early Monday afternoon with visitors and city residents who do not live in the immediate area asked to stay away from the scene.

Police said they believed that the "threat to the public has ended" as of early Monday afternoon and that "the perpetrators have left the area."
