Help Make Salem an Age-Friendly City

Two listening sessions on helping make the city more age friendly are scheduled for April 19.

Salem, MA - Residents are invited to take part in a discussion about how to make the city more age-friendly.

The city is hosting two listening sessions on the subject on Tuesday, April 19.

The first session is from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the second is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Both take place in the third floor conference room at 120 Washington Street.

The conversation will focus on the four topic areas explored in the draft report: housing, communication, outdoor spaces and public buildings, and transportation.

"An Age-Friendly city helps people of all ages participate in community activities and treats everyone with respect, regardless of their age," said Mayor Kim Driscoll. "An Age-Friendly city welcomes everyone and adapts its structures and services to be accessible to all, including older people with varying needs and capacities. An Age-Friendly city encourages active aging by optimizing opportunities for good health and social interaction in order to add life to years. This is a vital part of Salem’s future.”
