SALEM, MA — Families looking for a fun-loving girl eager to take part in adventures, endless playtime, or even join in on a vacation far away might meet their perfect match in "Josie" at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem this weekend.

This 3-year-old, pit bull terrier weighs about 58 pounds and is described as a "high-energy dynamo" that is "bursting with enthusiasm."

She is this week's Patch Shelter Spotlight puppy.

"Josie's still learning the ropes of good manners, so she's looking for a committed family dedicated to ongoing training and consistent management," MSPCA-Angell and NEAS said. "Once she feels at ease in her new home, Josie promises to be a cuddly companion who thrives on affection."

She is described as being good with other dogs, even if a bit eager to interact, which is not always appreciated by all breeds even though all she wants to do is play — and is really a "pussycat" at heart.

"If you're a patient adopter and ready to invest time and effort into shaping a wonderful companion, Josie could be the perfect match for you," MSPCA-Angell said.

The Northeast Animal Shelter (NEAS) also allows you to submit an inquiry online before visiting the shelter. Submitting an inquiry on an animal is not a hold, reservation, or guarantee on an animal adoption, it just gives NEAS a bit more information on you and allows staff to email you additional information on our adoption process.
