UPDATE: Mom Convicted of Attempted Murder of Son Released While Awaiting New Trial

In March, the state Supreme Court overturned a motion denying a new trial for Kristen LaBrie for the attempted murder of her son.

Salem, MA - Kristen LaBrie of Salem was granted release from prison by a judge on Thursday while she awaits a new trial.

LaBrie is still on probation for five years and will stay with her mother in Danvers with a 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. curfew, according to WHDH/7 News.

LaBrie was convicted in 2011 for withholding at-home chemotherapy treatments for her son, Jeremy Glaser. The nine-year-old boy died in 2009.

In March, the state's Supreme Judicial Court reversed a judge’s order denying LaBrie a motion for a new trial on an attempted murder charge.

The court also overturned assault and battery charges but upheld a charge of reckless endangerment of a child.

LaBrie stated that she stopped giving the chemotherapy to her son because the side effects made him extremely ill.
