North Shore Youth Musicians To Perform At Free Spring Concerts

Musicians from Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott are among those who will perform on May 18.

IPSWICH, MA — Dozens of talented musicians from throughout the North Shore will perform at the free Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras spring concerts at the Dolan Performing Arts Center in Ipswich.

The May 18 concerts include a 2 p.m. performance of the Prelude String Ensemble Overture and Intermezzo Orchestra.

The 4 p.m. concert features the advanced ensembles of Select Flute Choir, Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will include both classical and modern music, including works by Beethoven, Dvorak, Van der Roost, Coleridge-Taylor, and more.

NMYO provides youth musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for cognitive, social, and personal growth through musical performance and community service.

Led by Music Director Michael Coelho, with a team of music professionals, NMYO’s 150 musicians come from 40-plus towns throughout northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and participate in one or more of six ensembles offered.
