Peabody Man Accused Of Peddling Crack Cocaine, Fentanyl To Salem Homeless Community

SALEM, MA — A Peabody man is facing drug trafficking charges after Salem police said he peddled fentanyl, crack cocaine and cocaine at city homeless encampments.

Police said Raymond Garland, 54, was charged with two felony counts of drug trafficking and other charges after he was found to have 28 grams of fentanyl, eight grams of cocaine, 22 grams of crack cocaine and more than $2,400 in cash on him at the time of his arrest late last week.

"The targets of Garland's drug dealing have endured long-term substance abuse disorder resulting in chronic homelessness," police said.

Police said those homeless present at the time of the arrest were offered assistance in recovery through Essex County Outreach, an organization that works closely with Salem’s Criminal Investigation Unit to support our unhoused community in battling substance abuse disorder.
