Police Receive Report of Naked Man Walking Down Street

The following information was supplied by the Salem Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police log:

Sunday, Sep. 25

  • At 12:23 a.m. police found a vehicle in the area of Cabot and Lynde Street that had been damaged. The vehicle had a smashed windshield and windows, tires slashed and dents throughout. The owner's girlfriend was outside but had no idea who would have done the damage. Police had information, three males dressed in black and carrying baseball bats had been seen running from the area.
  • At 12:21 a.m. police cleared a loud party on Broadway that had spilled out into the street.
  • At 12:28 a.m. police quieted a dance party on Palmer Street.
  • At 12:45 a.m. police responded to after a woman said she was pushed by a man from behind. As she was pushed, the woman said she fell into a couple and made a comment about being pushed. The woman she fell into, thought the woman was making a comment about her companion and punched her in the face. When the woman was on the ground, the other woman continued to hit her. Bouncers broke up the fight and the woman left the bar.
  • At 1:08 a.m. police responded to Canal Street after Salem State officers witnessed a man urinating as he leaned against a fence. As police approached, the man continued to urinate, police said. As police took the man into custody, he pulled away from police. His friend then came up to officers and started arguing with them.
  • At 1:44 a.m. Police shut down a loud house party on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 2:08 a.m. Police shut down a loud house party on Essex Street.
  • At 2:10 a.m. Police shut down a loud house party on Hazel Street.
  • At 2:16 a.m. Police shut down a loud house party on Loring Avenue.
  • At 2:48 a.m. Police responded to a car accident on Loring Avenue. One car had hit a light tower and knocked it onto a resident's front lawn. The car was engulfed in flames when Police and Fire arrived. The driver was cited for not staying in the lane.
  • At 2:58 a.m. Police shut down a loud house party on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 3:13 a.m. Police shut down a loud house party on Oak Street.
  • At 1:38 a.m. Police arrested after he turned into traffic on Canal Street. Three people were transported to the hospital.
  • At 2:15 p.m. Police received a report of a man jumping on cars on Washington Street.
  • At 5:52 p.m. a man told police he was at the Hess Gas Station on Derby Street Saturday night when a car pulled up with eight people inside. The group had words about how loud his music was. The man told police there was no fight but when he was driving out of the station he heard three "pops." When he woke up Sunday morning and went to his car, he found two bullet holes in his car. At the scene, police found 380 caliber shell casings. 
  • At 8:07 p.m. police responded to a car accident at Canal and Broadway with air-bag deployment. There were no injuries. One driver was issued a citation.
  • At 11:05 p.m. police responded toon Canal Street where a 6 foot tall man was unruly, employees said. The man allegedly would not pay his tab and then knocked over a bar stool as he left without paying. The employees told police he was wearing a T-shirt that said, "Tapout."

  • At 7:28 a.m. a tenant of a Lynde Street building said she went into the basement to get some paint and found a man sleeping on some boards. The woman became very frightened and ran away to call police. When police arrived, the man was still sleeping. The man told police he has no place else to go and someone in the building had told him he could sleep in the basement. Arnaldo Gonzalez Jr., 20, 60 Lexington St., Lynn, was arrested and charged with tresspassing and breaking and entering in the night to commit a misdemeanor.
  • At 1:32 p.m. Police received a report of a man walking naked down Highland Avenue. Police did not locate the man.
  • At 2:08 p.m. Police responded to a pedestrian hit-and-run accident on Lafayette Street. The man was transported to the hospital with a back injury.
  • At 3:13 p.m. A man told police a car had been following him all day. He did not know why anyone would be following him and he couldn't get a full plate number.
  • At 4:19 p.m. a Leach Street resident reported their lawn furniture stolen.
