Report: Grapevine Chef Plans New Restaurant at 'The Old Spot'

"The Old Spot" closed in July after eight years, and a new restaurant is planned for the downtown location.

The former “The Old Spot” space at the corner of Essex Street and Hawthorne Boulevard may soon be home to a restaurant by former The Grapevine executive chef Tim Caldwell, according to a report by Boston Restaurant Talk.

The website cites a source that said Caldwell has bought the former The Old Spot.

The Old Spot closed at the end of July after eight years in business, because of differences with the landlord and neighbors, according to owners Brenden Crocker or Milissa Oraibi.
