Salem 2024 Primary Election Guide: Races, Where To Vote
To help you brush up on all the races before polls open Tuesday, we've put together a guide to the ballot and where to vote.

SALEM, MA — Salem voters will head to the polls on Tuesday to vote for candidates for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, state legislators, register of deeds, governor's council and clerk of courts, as well as other local and regional offices.
The primary will determine the final candidates for the Nov. 5 general election.

- Polls open statewide at 7 a.m. Tuesday and close at 8 p.m.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be received in the City Clerk’s office no later than 8 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2024, to be counted. A vote-by-mail ballot cannot be returned to the polls.
Locations of Ballot Drop Boxes are Fire Station Headquarters, 48 Lafayette Street; Fire Station #5, 64 Loring Avenue; Fire Station #4, 415 Essex Street; Fire Station #2, 142 North Street.

In some cases voters will be required to show an ID. It does not have to be a photo ID, BUT it must contain your name and address as registered. Acceptable forms of ID include utility bill, paycheck stub, driver's license, etc.)
