Salem, Beverly To Hold Joint Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Residents of both cities can drop off paint, gasoline, oil and other household chemicals on Sept. 28 at Salem High School.

SALEM, MA — Salem and Beverly residents looking to clear out their basements, sheds and garages for winter storage are invited to drop off household hazardous waste products for proper disposal at the third annual collection day this month.

The collection will be held on Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to noon at Salem High School on Willson Street.

This event will be in conjunction with the quarterly E-Waste event. The hazardous waste collection day is open to Salem and Beverly residents at a discount cost. The cost is $25 per car for Salem and Beverly residents with proof of residency.

Residents from other cities and towns can drop off items between 11 a.m. and noon but should contact the Salem Board of Health for non-resident pricing.

No commercial vehicles are allowed.

Items accepted include motor oil, chemicals, pesticides, car batteries, propane cylinders, paint and car tires without rims.

Latex paint is not accepted and should be air-dried in cans and placed in household trash.
