Salem Cardboard Recycling Schedule For Winter 2025
The Salem Transfer Station has updated its schedule through the beginning of April.
SALEM, MA — The Salem Transfer Station will provide hours for cardboard recycling this winter before it opens full-time for the season on April 12.
The station at 12 Swampscott Road will be open every other Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, Jan. 30, Feb. 13, Feb. 27, March 13, March 27 and April 10 for cardboard drop-off.
"We encourage those who are able to collapse and add their cardboard to their recycling tote for curbside collection, but if you have excess cardboard or are not part of the city's curbside collection program, this free service should hopefully be helpful to you," Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo.

Only clean, dry cardboard will be accepted at this location. Cardboard must also be flattened.
If the cardboard boxes can be reused, bring them to U-Haul Moving & Storage at 43 Jefferson Avenue as they offer a "take a box, leave a box" reuse program.
