Low Ridership Means Early End For Salem Ferry Season
The Salem-to-Boston ferry will end service after the Labor Day holiday.

SALEM, MA — Boston Harbor Cruises is suspending service on the Salem Ferry after Labor Day for the remainder of the 2020 season.
Hornblower Cruises and Events, which operates the ferry, attributed the decision to low ridership as a result of the coronavirus crisis. Weather permitting, the Landing restaurant at the ferry terminal will continue to operate its regular hours.
The ferry service typically runs through the end of October. Earlier this month, the city offered its first guidance on Haunted Happenings, Salem's month-long Halloween celebration that underpins the local tourism economy, saying it would scaled down with several events already canceled.
