Salem Firefighters Assist at Swampscott House Fire
A two-alarm fire destroyed the home of a Swampscott firefighter on Tuesday morning.

Salem firefighters were among the crews from several North Shore communities that helped battle an early morning fire in Swampscott on Tuesday.
It is a 6-year-old girl that is being credited for alerting a Swampscott firefighter’s family that their home was on fire early Tuesday morning, in time for them to all get out safely.
The home of firefighter Anthony Pierro was destroyed and the family lost everything, according to the Swampscott Firefighters Union Local 1459.

Nobody was injured in the fire at 670 Humphrey St., not far from Blocksidge Field. The fire broke out at about 4:45 a.m. and went to two alarms.
In addition to the crew of Salem Engine 5, firefighters from Lynn, Marblehead and Peabody assisted.

“Thankfully the family escaped unharmed,” the union said in a Facebook post. “Please keep the famliy in your prayers.”
The 6-year-old daughter heard a fire alarm going off and woke the rest of her family, reports WHDH-TV channel 7.
At least six people were inside the home when the fire started, WHDH reported. Everyone got out safely.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
