Salem Free Student Summer Eats Program Launches With Kickoff Event

The kids' festival of food, games, music, arts and crafts, face painting, and sports is set for Mary Jane Lee Park.

SALEM, MA — The Salem Free Summer Eats Program is set to kick off two months of free meals and activities with a special event of food, games, music, arts and crafts, face painting, and sports set for Mary Jane Lee Park.

The June 24 event will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Congress Street location.

No registration or I.D. is necessary to attend the event.

The full program runs from June 30 through Aug. 22 at 10 locations across the city. Four of the locations will have event programming to coincide with the food giveaways throughout the summer.

  • Loring Avenue, 11 to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday
  • Salem Commons, North Washington Square, 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, with activities
  • Collins Cove, 32 Collins Street, 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, with activities
  • Salem Public Library, 370 Essex Street, 1:40 to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Forest River Pool, 32 Clifton Avenue, 12:30 to 12:50 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Rainbow Terrace, off Loring Avenue, 11:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Winter Island, 2:10 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Palmers Cove, 38 Leavitt Street, 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, with activities
  • Salem Heights, 12 Pope Street, 1 to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Mary Jane Lee Park, 41 Palmer Street, 4 to 6 p.m. dinner, Monday through Friday, with activities.
