Salem To Gain 1.4M In Road, Sidewalk Funding In State Transportation Bill: Mayor
Mayor Dominick Pangallo said the state aid, combined with budgeted spending, will add up to $2.9 million in infrastructure spending.

SALEM, MA — Salem is poised to spend nearly $3 million on road and sidewalk repairs through the municipal capital allocation and an additional $1.4 million in state funding through a state transportation bond bill that increased Chapter 90 funding for cities and towns.
Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo was in Gardner on Wednesday, along with Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll, for a ceremonial signing of the transportation bond bill.
"This investment represents a critical step forward in ensuring that Salem's roads, sidewalks, and bridges remain safe, reliable, and accessible for all," Pangallo said. "It supports our continued efforts to advance projects that prioritize safety and accessibility.

"Because this is a multi-year authorization, we also can plan resources more effectively and build a stronger foundation for a more connected, resilient Salem."
Pangallo said Salem has supplemented this state funding with local funding through its own capital budget, with an additional $1.5 million in local funds for this work. The total amounts to a 23 percent increase over the previous year's allocation.
