Salem HAWC Dometstic Abuse Walk, 5K Draws Overwhelming Response
The June 8 event raised money raised money to fund support services for victims and break patterns of domestic abuse.

SALEM, MA — Healing Abuse Working for Change's 5K and walk earlier this month drew what organizers called "an overwhelming response" to the 33rd annual fundraiser for support services for domestic violence victims.
The June 8 event drew community members, advocates and supporters, and raised money for programs such as the recent collaboration with Salem High School that engaged more than 600 students in assemblies about healthy relationships.
State Rep. Manny Cruz, honored as Grand Marshal, alongside Sara Stanley, received the City Seal from Mayor Dominick Pangallo, highlighting the event's significance in raising awareness and support for survivors of domestic abuse.

"We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to this year's HAWC Walk and 5K Run," said Elisa Castillo, HAWC Board of Directors President. "We've not only raised critical funds but also united our community in care and support for those overcoming abuse, and committed to not tolerating domestic violence."
The event, which took place at the Salem Common, featured a 5K Walk and Run, children’s
activities, a kid’s fun run, In the Mak’n Dance group, and a pet parade.

Participants enjoyed complimentary lunch from Kelly's Roast Beef and Atomic Coffee. The success of this year's event underscores the community's commitment to supporting survivors and advocating for change.
